On 19 January 2022 the government announced that the limit on working hours for student visa holders had been removed across all sectors, effective immediately. The measure was to be reviewed again in April 2022.

The six month limitation on working for a single employer was also removed for working holiday makers until the end of 2022, meaning they could work more than six months for the same employer.

Students who arrived in Australia between 19 January 2022 and 19 March 2022 were eligible to have their visa application charge refunded.
